WHAT WERE THE CHALLENGES AND OBJECTIVES?

Reviewing its in-house repairs service

To help strengthen this Housing Association’s Direct Labour Organisation (DLO) to help meet the demand from its growing housing portfolio and provide more an effective services to the thousands of residents living in its homes. 

Develop proposals for growth:

Continue to grow the services and keep services inhouse, with a clear desire to minimise external contractor support. 

Ensuring the service could cope with the unique characteristics of the Housing Association’s operation in Scotland:

Its homes are spread across a wide geographical area and  the local housing sector was suffering from shortages in both labour and skills.

CREATING A MAP FOR SUCCESS

We used our expertise to:

  • This allowed us to closely map the ambitions of the Housing Association with what was achievable given the current environment.

PROJECT SUCCESS

  • Produced a detailed series of options for Langstone which included a options for change, cost and customer analysis, and a route map to achieve the change. 

  • The depth of analysis allowed the landlord to make informed strategic decisions  about the future service avoiding potential risks around growth without available expertise and resource.

  • Ended with an improved, expanded services that was better able to cope with change.
